PITTSBURGH, PA — Stanley Jason Conti, a proud Pittsburgh native and former Major League Baseball outfielder, passed away unexpectedly in May 2025 at the age of 50. Known for his powerful arm, athletic prowess, and unwavering love for baseball, Conti’s legacy resonates deeply within the baseball world and the community that raised him.

Born on January 27, 1975, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Conti made his mark as a talented right-handed hitter and thrower. He was drafted out of the University of Pittsburgh in the 32nd round of the 1996 MLB Draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks. His five-year MLB career spanned from 2000 to 2004, where he suited up for the Diamondbacks, Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Milwaukee Brewers, and Texas Rangers.

Conti played in 182 MLB games, finishing with a .238 batting average, 6 home runs, and 47 RBIs. His most productive season came in 2002 with the Devil Rays, where he appeared in 78 games and hit .257. Known for his defensive flair, Conti made headlines with clutch outfield plays, including gunning down baserunners like Frank Thomas and Brian Jordan on consecutive nights.

Even after his MLB tenure, Conti continued to compete at the Triple-A and independent league levels, playing for teams like the Columbus Clippers, Memphis Redbirds, and Camden Riversharks. He remained dedicated to the sport, mentoring young players and leaving a lasting impact in every clubhouse he joined.

Conti’s personality matched his on-field talent—humble, driven, and generous with his time. He often returned to Pittsburgh, offering guidance to aspiring athletes and staying active in the community that nurtured his love for baseball.

Stanley Jason Conti is survived by his parents, Anthony and Margaret Conti; his brothers, Dominic Conti and Paul Conti; his niece, Emily Conti; and many extended family members, former teammates, and friends.
