Police arrested three teenagers in connection with a post-Christmas shooting incident that left bullet holes and broken windows in a small apartment building in Portland’s East Bayside neighborhood.

The incident happened just after midnight, in the first hour of Dec. 26, 2024, at 139 Cumberland Ave., according to Portland police.
Police reported numerous damaged windows and bullet holes to several apartments and said it appeared at the time that more than a dozen bullets were shot into the building. Several shell casings were found in the snow across the street in Peppermint Park, police said.
No injuries were reported by any of the occupants of the building.
On Wednesday night, the Portland Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division and Special Reaction Team, a SWAT-style unit, arrested Jeissey Khamis, 18, of Portland, Mogga Yanga, 18, of Portland, and an 18-year-old who was 17 at the time of the crime and was charged as a juvenile.
All three were charged with criminal attempt (elevated aggravated assault) and reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon. They were brought to Cumberland County Jail. The unnamed 18-year-old was also charged with a separate adult criminal offense, Portland Police said, adding that they are not identifying him because of his juvenile charges in this case.
